So it was finally released the other day, the eagerly anticipated launch of the new AEON MQ 6 skin for KODI. If you’re familiar with the Prozone configuration on the Prometheus HTPC boxes then you’re certainly in for a treat. The new AEON MQ 6 is an updated, beefed up version of the MQ5 skin which is currently being used as the default skin for the Prozone configurations.
Now although this new release is still in BETA you’re able to download and install it on any KODI device. As with it’s predecessor the MQ5 it’s lightweight and runs smoothly even on devices lacking in power. However to get the very best out of the skin, it’s recommended that you use a KODI box with plenty of ‘oomph’ aka processing power! As the MQ5 ran like a dream on the Prometheus HTPC we can only assume that it will be the same ordeal here and can more than likely assume that it could be a top contender to be included in future Prozone configuration.
Let’s look a little deeper into what’s actually new in the new MQ6 skin….

So, there you have it. I have installed the skin on my Prometheus HTPC in place of the older now ‘out dated’ MQ5 and must say I am impressed with what’s on offer here. The skin runs perfectly, smooth and fast. It’s hard to say if it’s any quicker than the Mq5 from what we are hearing is that MQ 6 does use a little more of the boxes CPU, with all the new updates and options it will be interesting to see how it performs once it’s fully loaded on a configuration.
