The LCS world Championship is starting October 1st! How exciting! If you have no idea what I’m talking about, it’s the League Championship Series, or in other words, professional League of Legends. Sounds ridiculous right? What if I told you that last year’s world’s final match was watched by 27 million concurrent users, most of whom watched it live on Twitch.TV.
Twitch.TV is a website where people watch predominantly game related content; Live playthroughs, Speedruns, talk shows and, as above, live E-sport events. It might just be the biggest website you’ve never heard of. To give you an idea just how big, here’s some monthly stats for you. 100 million unique users, 1.5 million unique broadcasters and 16 billion minutes watched. Yikes!
Traditionally Twitch has been watched on the computer screen or tablet. But there’s no reason you can’t watch on the big screen using the Twitch.TV add-on for Kodi.
The Twitch.TV add-on can be found in the official Kodi/XBMC repository and should already be present, so no need to install another repo. Sweet! Once you’ve opened Kodi navigate to the system tab and go into settings:
Then scroll down to Addons:
Now we’re going to select Get Add-ons
Now select Kodi Add-on repository
Select Video Add-ons
Now select TwitchTV
Select Install from the below menu
And You’re good to go! You’ll find the add-on underneath the video section.
Happy Gaming Nerds! 🙂
